During the meeting with mind I learned and understood a lot more about the charity and what they are looking for in terms of the advert.
Our client John swallow mentioned some of the main things he wanted the advert to achieve. some of these included:
- creativity - to develop ideas that are creative and fun to draw attention to that advert and the charity.
- positive image - the advert should be shown in a positive way. "busy and exciting"
- aim - to get people to talk about mental health.
- target audience - teenagers aged 12 - 18 and parents
- identify main issues - some of the main issues with young people are anxiety, low self esteem and bullying
- facts and statistics - the advert should contain facts and statistics on and around mental health issues
- honest - the advert should be 100% honest
I also gained a clearer understanding of what the charity does and what it has achieved:
- mind is a community charity not medical. they believe that activities will help their clients more than medicines.
- each of their clients have a personal worker who help them on one to ones
- the charity helps their clients in a creative way using activities such as therapy, music and creative writing.
- mind also have their own elopement which they are hoping to expand here their clients grow their own vegetables and help to keep the elopement tidy.
- John also mentioned that some of their staff have had mental health problems in the past.
From this meeting i also learned a lot of things about mental health such as everyone has mental health weather it is good or bad and that mental health is not just issues such as schizophrenia and multiple personality disorder. mental health can also be some of the less known things such as depression and social anxiety.
the meeting with john helped me to develop ideas that fit more with what he is looking for. this also helped me to develop ideas that will hopefully not offend anyone with a mental health issue or anyone who knows someone with a mental health issue.
